Hall of Fame
IRIBF HALL OF FAME
The Rock-It-Ball Hall of Fame is the highest award that can be bestowed in Rock-It-Ball. Two members of the IRIBF are to be inducted in 2008, 2010 and 2012 after which it is intended that the award will be made on an annual basis.
The award is intended to honour those people who have made an ongoing, consistent and outstanding contribution to the development of Rock-It-Ball. The process goes through two stages: nominations are made by IRIBF members. Anyone receiving three nominations then progresses to the committee stage. The Hall of Fame Committee vote on which 2 people who have made it to Stage 2 will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, however even if only one person makes it to committee stage this is no guarantee of induction as the committee has to agree that the contribution is outstanding and consistent enough to warrant the inclusion.
Successful inductees are presented with an engraved Hall of Fame ring presented at a Hall of Fame dinner. The members of the Hall of Fame will have their photographs displayed with the Hall of Fame statement in the Hall of Fame on the website and, when available, in the official Rock-It-Ball Hall of Fame. Inductees are also entitled to wear official Hall of Fame clothing.
Rock-It-Ball Awards in Easingwold
Easingwold was the centre of the Rock-It-Ball world again recently as the International Rock-It-Ball Federation held its Hall of Fame Awards Dinner at the George Hotel and welcomed new members of the Hall of Fame and some of its original members, all with their partners for an evening of celebration.
The Hall of Fame is the highest honour that can be awarded in the sport of Rock-It-Ball and it is intended to honour and thank those people who have made an exceptional, outstanding and consistent contribution to the development of the sport. Normally two members are inducted every two years however for 2010, unusually, three new members, were inducted. Ian Crosby from Manchester, Carl Alsop from York and Graeme Wood from Teesside have all been at the forefront of the developments of what is widely recognised as the fastest-growing sport in the world.
IRIBF Commissioner, Craig Buttery, who made the presentations said: “This is a massive evening for us as it is the first formal awards dinner that has been held for our sport. We are delighted to welcome Carl, Ian and Graeme into the family. Normally only two people are inducted at a time but the work these guys have done for the sport is amazing and the Hall of Fame Committee simply couldn’t decide between them so took the decision to vote for all three of them. We look forward to being able to welcome two more members in 2012 as there are so many people out there doing such good work for the sport. I’d also like to thank everyone at the George Hotel for making us so welcome and giving us such a wonderful evening.”
